"Offer advanced knowledge to those who are ready to receive it"

Absolutely vital! There's a dearth of beginners' blogs out there, and a huge number of advanced material blogs as well. One of the things some of the best bloggers do well is straddle the fence between the two camps, using simple demonstration to communicate advanced knowledge.

Awesome stuff - keep digging!

Hi Mark.

That point about having a vision and sticking to it sure is important enough to be the first item on this list. "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything" is the quote that comes to mind. The more specific and detailed the vision is, the more likely we can ignore or turn down anything that doesn't fit with it. Planning a vision saves a lot of headache along the way in wondering if something is appropriate to do.

Another hard-hitting point is to do your best over and over. Doing our best one time is good, but there is no reason why we can't keep doing it until people start to really take notice. We have a best in some category, and people want more and more of it. Just like we want some great musician to keep putting material out regularly, other people want what we have to be put our regularly, for their own benefit, which leads to ours.

Solid set here.

@Rob (and @Steven for that matter) - regardless of how good you do or don't think you are as a blogger (and I think you and Steven both underestimate yourselves), my point is that within the confines of your blog, you are building a world. There are features, functions, rules, and values within the blog. To me, that's world building.

I agree with Hodson, you put me in a list with people that have way better blogs than I do! Thank you for the honor of inclusion.

As a speculative fiction fan (and sometime writer) I love this analogy. Curious what the others on the list think if what world you see them as building matches up with their own sense of it.
