Different thoughts about thinking differently
Minor tweaks to Broadcasting Brain

Hello there.  I’m doing some minor blog template tweaks over the next little while.  The biggest change so far is that I’ve removed a lot of stuff from the sidebar:

  • Archives by month
  • Categories (i.e. Brainy Topics to Explore)
  • Tag Cloud (which wasn’t working correctly anyway)
  • Dykeman Blogs (much of which was already duplicated elsewhere)

I removed them to get rid of some sidebar clutter.  From what I could tell, they weren’t being used by anyone.  I hope I’m not wrong about this.  Let me know if I am.

I also experimented with changing line height - we’ll see how that goes.

I’m curious, though:  do you ever use things like categories, tags, monthly archives, etc. to navigate through blogs?

P.S. thanks to Brandon for the suggestions!

Do not look at categories, but still of course categorize on my blog. I, too, wonder how many people use them. Here's another thing I picked up recently. I ceased dating my posts. some say it keeps posts more timeless; in the jargon, gives them a longer tail.

NeuronOutlaw, do you mean that you changed your permalink structure?
