Gone commenting
WinExtra’s Steven Hodson has a great little post about the power of blog comments. They’re more than just a calling card; they’re a great way to continue a conversation, show people what you know, and get in contact with other individuals. (Both Caroline Middlebrook and Darren Rowse/Problogger have written about blog commenting strategies.)
This made me realize that I haven’t been leaving as many comments lately as I have in the past or else I haven’t been putting as much thought into they as I have before. I think I’m missing out on something by skimping on this activity – mainly the interaction with bloggers and with other readers.
Food for thought, as always – thanks Steven!

I'm glad you stopped by mine to comment.
Real estate marketing mentor Brian Buffini once asked George Bush (the elder) the secret to his success. He said he had sent out handwritten notes everyday throughout his career. Making that connection with other people, or as Yaro Starek has said, “opening streams of communication” is certain to build relationships and open doors.
Comments are the handwritten notes of the blog world.

I remember hearing about HW's use of handwritten notes and thought that it was a classy thing to do. That's an interesting analogy and it does put a useful spin on the idea of blog commenting.

Mark,
Good on you.
Interactivity is one of the key aspects which separates the blogosphere apart from traditional media, and I personally find the process of reading discussions posted by others and contributing my own thoughts to those discussions to be a thoroughly rewarding experience.
Happy commenting.
