Broadcasting Brain would like to thank
I would like to thank a couple of groups/people for some kind acknowledgments that have appeared during the past week or so:
Profectio, a website that “connects Canada’s communities”, started a competition to determine who the top social media influencers in the country. I believe I was nominated by David Alston (thanks Dave) and I have wound up making it to the semi-finalist found, along with 31 other worthy individuals.
Here is the list of semi-finalists (you should check them out!):
- Ben Watson
- MC Turgeon
- Kate Trgovac
- Sébastien Provencher
- Jacqui Murphy
- CT Moore
- Miss604 (hat tip to Rebecca for linking out to all other semi-finalists)
- Adele McAlear
- Amber Mac
- Michelle Leblanc
- Kris Krug
- Sandy Kemsley
- Paul Kedrosky
- Mitch Joel
- Mathew Ingram
- Shannae Ingleton
- Rae Hoffman
- Jon Hamilton
- Ilya Grigorik
- Michael Geist
- Brett Gaylor
- Dave Fleet
- Mark Evans
- Mark Dykeman (yours truly)
- April Dunford
- Cory Doctorow

- Leesa Barnes
- Darren Barefoot
The entire list (the top 100 nominees) can be found here.
I regret that the other Atlantic Canadian nominees (Marcel Lebrun, David Alston, and Carmen Pirie) aren’t semi-finalists as well. I feel they are far more active in social media than I am in many ways and they do great work, so please check them out as well.
Regardless, congratulations to everyone and more power to us all.
Finally, I’d like to thank the uncanny Tamar Weinberg for including one of my posts in her Best Internet Marketing Posts of 2008 (Rob Diana, maybe you had me pegged correctly a few months ago). My guest post at Social Desire.com, The ABCs of Social Media, made it on the 2008 list. I also had a post on Tamar’s 2007 List, a guest post at SEO 2.0 called I Live In The Blogosphere. Maybe I’m not saving enough of the good stuff for my own blog… Just kidding.
Once again, thanks to Tamar and to the people who participated in the Profectio competition.

TheNanny612:
Congrats on appearing on Tamar's list of “Best Internet Marketing Posts of 2008″. I'm thrilled for you and of course I loved having your ABC post on my social desire blog. Ironically, one of my posts made it there too, but it was also as a guest post on the Hobo SEO blog… http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/seo-blog/index.php/ho... . When I guest post for someone I expect more of myself….. maybe that is the same for you. You want to write extra well because the post is appearing on someone else's blog so you work twice as hard.
What ever the reason congrats, Mark.

Thanks Shana! Sometimes it does seem like we give our best stuff away, but it's often for a good reason. And congrats to you as well!

Congrats Mark! Maybe that is why I got confused, because I had remembered something like that post. Internet Marketing is a rather vague term anyway.

Man, we're all Internet marketers; didn't you get the Tweet?
