Catch the Brainwaves is our ongoing series of interviews with a variety of folks participating in blogging and social media. I ask them ten questions and they respond with their brilliant answers and insights! Today is the third installment of our four part series of Q&A sessions with the co-hosts of the rockin’ podcast Social Blend, featuring Nomadelle (aka Reem Abeidoh, author of Social Impressions.)

Are you sitting comfortably? Then let’s begin!

1. Can you tell us the origin of your username (Nomadelle)?

It is a combination of two words: Nomad + Elle. I chose “Nomad” because of how much I traveled growing up due to my dad’s job as the bureau chief of Reuters. After a year in Jerusalem, we moved to UAE, Cyprus, Egypt and Morocco. I came to the U.S. to pursue my undergraduate and master’s degree. The second part of the name, Elle, is French for “she.”

2. You interact with a ton of people online, but I’m wondering if you’ve met any of them in person. Any good anecdotes or stories to share?

Every time I travel somewhere, I always try to meet the social media users who live in that particular city. For example, when I went to Long Beach, I met with Jaybol, BuzzDiggity and MrBabyMan. When I went to New York, I met with FirstDigg, Gbarbari and Numberneal. The Social Monks actually came to St. Louis today so we hung out for a while. It’s so hard to pick a single good story to share. I have had a blast meeting all these social media users.

3. How would you describe Social Blend, the podcast that you co-host?

Social Blend reminds me of good friends hanging out and discussing their favorite subjects. It just happens that we love discussing current affairs, social media, Mixx, music, etc.

4. How did you become a Social Blend co-host?

I had already been a guest on Social Blend a couple of times. One day over a casual Skype conversation, Greg asked me if I would be interested in being a co-host.

5. How challenging is it to work on a podcast when none of you are in the same location?

For me, it is extremely easy. I just log on to Skype, put on my headset and wait for Jay to call us. Jay does all the manual labor of editing the audio.

6. Is writing something that comes easy to you or is it difficult? Do you ever struggle to find the right words to say something?

I really enjoy writing. Finding words that depict my thoughts isn’t hard for me.

7. Are other members of your friends and family as involved in social media as you are?

Since my parents live in Dubai, IM has been a saving grace. It has saved us a lot of money in international calling costs. Additionally, we correspond via Facebook. My IRL friends are mainly involved in the more popular social media sites like Facebook and MySpace.

8. Any good books to recommend to our readers?

A couple of really good books about social media are Wikinomics and The New Influencers.

9. Pretend that the Internet is destroyed overnight. What do you do the next morning?

Go to my computer and check if it was restored. If not, then I will grab a newspaper and catch up on news the old fashioned way.

10. Any final thoughts for our readers?

Dear Readers: I’d love to meet you and discuss social media. Please add me on IM, Twitter, Plurk, etc.

Thanks to Nomadelle for sharing her brainwaves!
