There are many people who feel it is necessary to advise us via twitter that they are in the crapper, or some such:

<em>"Failing to capitalize on these capabilities would be a terrible waste."</em>

I absolutely, 100%, totally agree that we should use social media meaningfully. It could be the most powerful tool within easy reach to change our world. Can you imagine what we could have done with this technology in the 60,s?

Timing is everything isn't it? And we seem to have developed all this fabulous communication ability to coincide with an almost global wave of apathy.

I am a raw beginner at social media sites. I haven't the foggiest how to jump in and create meaningful dialog that spreads. I only know that it is an amazingly powerful untapped resource for change -- and god knows we need to change things.

Maybe we can chip away at it, a bit at a time?

John

@Ellen - well shiver me timbers, you finally showed up!

That's cool, I work at being interesting. Hence the avatar, great conversation starter.

I'm probably being a bit harsh on Plurkers this week, it is a new service after all. I just hope it gets a chance to mature.

Hey the plurk link doesn't work. Good thing. Well, spinach head, I did find you on tweet, er, twitter, so that's a good thing. I like intesting people with intesting things to say, otherwise I get bored. I like your charming banter. Plus, you have a good sense of humor. But yeah, it can be a waste of time. And sometimes I do waste time. Just a matter of challenging your energy correctly when called.
